South Sumter High Graduate Jawarren Corbin Commits to University of Delaware
BUSHNELL, Fla. — Jawarren Corbin, an exceptional middle linebacker and 2023 graduate of South Sumter High School, has committed to play football at the University of Delaware, continuing his journey and will make a bit of history becoming part of the first Delaware team to compete at the FBS level. Delaware is moving up to Conference USA in 2025.
Corbin, known for his physicality and field awareness, compiled an impressive high school career with the South Sumter Raiders, amassing 243 total tackles, 35 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, and six forced fumbles. His leadership and relentless play earned him recognition as one of the premier defenders in Central Florida.
After graduating in 2023, Corbin took his talents to Iowa Central Community College, where he further developed his game and showcased his ability to excel at a higher level. Over two seasons, Corbin recorded 36 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and four interceptions—three of which came this past season.
Corbin’s performance at Iowa Central did not go unnoticed, paving the way for his commitment to the University of Delaware. The Blue Hens, who played at the NCAA FCS level, are gaining a versatile and hard-hitting linebacker. They will certainly need it as the move from FCS to FBS is a huge jump in competition. Jawarren thrives in high-pressure situations and possesses the athleticism to disrupt both the run and passing games. He is one stellar athlete so this is a big pickup for Delaware.
Corbin joins a storied Delaware program with a reputation for producing NFL talent such as Joe Flacco, Nick Boyle, Mike Adams and Marcus Burley among others.
This is a very exciting time! We have many South Sumter High athletes headed to NCAA Division 1 programs. We are very excited for Jawarren and want to send a big congratulations out to his family, friends and coaches who have helped him earn this opportunity. Way to go Jawarren! Congratulations.
