South Sumter High Offensive Tackle Ramell Parker Committs to Air Force

Congratulations to South Sumter High School’s Ramell Parker who has committed to Air Force. Ramell plays Offensive Tackle for South Sumter High. The Junior is listed at 6’3” 260 pounds.

He protects the quarterback’s blind side and plays mostly on the left side of the line but can also play on the right side of the line. He is a versatile player who trucks over opponents.

(Parker blocked two players at the same time during a game late last year. Air Force is getting a terrific Offensive Tackle who has a very high football IQ.)

Many times Parker is the reason that big gaps and holes open up for the running backs. Last season alone, South Sumter had 3,450 rushing yards. That’s due to the incredible offensive line that South Sumter puts out year after year.

That kind of protection resulted in 49 rushing touchdowns and 17 through the air for a total of 66 offensive touchdowns scored in 2023. Ramell plays hard. If you watch his footage on Max Preps or Hudl he is everything a tackle should be. Big but nimble on his feet. Especially when he has to pass protect, he has shown great promise with protecting the quarterback.

Ramell heads to Air Force to play under head coach Tory Calhoun who is entering his 17th season for Air Force that he has held since the 2007 season. But before he takes the field with Air Force in 2025, Ramell has some unfinished business with South Sumter.

Ramell will return for his senior year in 2024. He has been to the Regional Finals the past two years and South Sumter nearly pulled off an upset win against Cocoa last year that would have gotten them to the State Semi-Finals. South Sumter returns with a great team in 2024 and we are excited to see his senior year!

Congratulations to Ramell, his family, coaches, and friends on his decision!
