South Sumter High’s George Mullins Commits To Michigan State University
South Sumter High School defensive back George Mullins has committed to play football in the fall of 2025 with Michigan State. The three-star recruit is one of the best defensive backs in Central Florida. During his junior year in 2023, Mullins had 27 total tackles along with 2 interceptions on the year. One of his biggest assets was on special teams, where the speed of this young man allowed him to block 3 field goals along with 1 punt last year.
Safe to say, Mullins is certainly one of the best defensive backs in the state. Mullins is also a multi-sport athlete. He also plays basketball and track & field for South Sumter High. Mullins averaged 7.3 points per game on the hardwood as a freshman. He has been a district qualifier in the 400-meter dash and the high jump.
During his career at South Sumter, Mullins has been a game changer on the field. In his three years with the Raiders, he has 11 interceptions. That incredible display of talent has allowed South Sumter to excel offensively. Mullins is a big reason the Raiders have made the FHSAA Regional Finals the past few years. Teams are simply afraid to put the ball in the air against Mullins.
That’s a very good thing for South Sumter as they return with one of the best defenses not only in Sumter County but in the state of Florida.
This is a big commitment for George Mullins, and we can’t wait to see him take the field with Michigan State in the fall of 2025! Congratulations to his family, friends, coaches, and everyone who has had an impact on his life.
