The community of Clermont was well represented last night at East Ridge High School. The football game was the last thing on anyones minds after the tragedy that unfolded earlier that morning. Sherman Vannoy who is a senior at Lake Minneola High School was riding his bike to school. Unfortunately Vannoy would never make it to his destination as he was tragically killed when a bus driven by a 78-Year-Old Female struck Vannoy. The FHP says that the bus driver tried to swerve to avoid Vannoy but that she never even saw him until it was too late.

The bus ended up crashing into a fence on the side of the road. School went on as normal that day but there were grief counselors provided to everyone at the school. The football game was a re-scheduled game that was delayed due to severe weather earlier in the year. The game was a rare Monday night football game and everyone was excited for it. However once this happened the mood shifted.

When people began showing up for the game there was an obvious sort of dark cloud hanging over the game. The LMH Cheer team wore orange to honor the late Sherman Vannoy and many people in attendance also wore orange. Ultimately Lake Minneola High would win the game 47-3 and dedicate the win to Vannoy.

A makeshift memorial has been set up outside Lake Minneola High School.
