TAVARES, Fla. — Tavares High School celebrated a significant milestone with a 92% graduation rate for the 2023-2024 school year, a 3% increase from last year’s 89%. This achievement reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and student success.

Since coming onboard to Tavares High School, Principal Stacy Keaveny has continued the strong work model set by Principal Stein. Tavares High School had fantastic growth on the academic side and it’s been a joy to watch the school flourish. We did reach out for comment but did not immediately hear back from any school representative about the graduation rate.

(The 92% Graduation Rate is one of the highest in Tavares High’s nearly 100 year history.)

Tavares High has implemented several measures to boost graduation rates in recent years, including tutoring programs, mentorship opportunities, and the school is continuing to help students find a path after graduation. Programs such as the Promotional Enterprise Class taught by Nikki Sauerbrey have been a huge help to local students. The Tavares High Incubator program has also been a success, “The Incubator program helps students learn about starting a business. There are many Tavares High School graduation success stories and the Incubator program helps teach them how to get started and have success upon graduating.” says Sauerbrey. You can read about that here.

This is among the highest graduation rates for Tavares High School in school history which is approaching its 100th year of operation. Built in 1926 the high school housed grades 9 and 10 and then in 1927 added grades 11-12. The 92% graduation rate is among the best in school history and we are very excited about the things that are happening at Lake County Schools. Great job!
