Tavares High School Baseball Player Kyle Dunn Committs To Northland College
TAVARES, Fla. — Tavares High School senior pitcher Kyle Dunn has announced his commitment to Northland College in Wisconsin, where he will continue his academic and baseball career. Dunn shared the news on his X (formerly Twitter) page, expressing gratitude to his support system and faith.
“I am extremely blessed and excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and baseball career at Northland College,” Dunn wrote. “I would like to take this time to thank my parents, coaches, teammates, and most of all the Lord for helping me through this journey.”
For Dunn, the journey to this milestone was anything but easy. A broken arm injury threatened his future on the diamond last year leaving him to question if he would ever play again.
“I was in so much pain,” Dunn reflected. “I broke my arm and kept thinking, ‘What if I never play again?'” During the summer last year Dunn would end up getting the chance to heal his arm and rehab it.
As his arm healed, Dunn embraced the mental and physical challenges of recovery. Limited in activity during the initial weeks, he shifted his focus to self-improvement, shedding weight, and rebuilding his strength. His determination paid off when he was finally able to pitch and swing again which led to a fantastic junior season.
Dunn’s hard work culminated in a standout junior season, where he showcased his potential on the mound. Over 33.2 innings, he struck out 30 batters, surrendered just 11 earned runs, and posted an impressive 2.29 ERA.
With his senior season still ahead, Dunn is poised to lead Tavares High and build upon his success. We are very excited for Kyle! Congratulations to his family, coaches, teammates and everyone who has impacted his life. Northland College is an NCAA Division III program.
