TAVARES, Fla.— Tavares High School standout Samantha Beatty has committed to continue her volleyball career at Lake-Sumter State College, reuniting with her former coach, Aslisha Wintersdorf, in a move that promises to elevate the Lakehawks’ roster.

Beatty, a senior and dominant outside hitter, has been a cornerstone of Tavares High’s volleyball success. Known for her powerful and consistent play, Beatty amassed an impressive 441 kill shots over her varsity career, including over 100 in her senior season alone and over 260 in her junior year. Her contributions helped propel Tavares High to the playoffs every year she played. She was among the most reliable as they come in Lake County.

At Lake-Sumter State College, Beatty will reunite with coach Alisha Wintersdorf, who previously coached Tavares High and played a pivotal role in shaping Beatty’s  early volleyball development. The familiarity and shared history between player and coach are expected to create a seamless transition as Beatty joins the Lakehawks.

“Reuniting with Coach Wintersdorf is incredibly exciting for me,” Beatty said. “She has always believed in me and pushed me to be my best. I’m looking forward to growing as a player and contributing to the team’s success at LSSC.”

The Lakehawks will gain not only a skilled player but also a proven leader with a winning mentality. Beatty’s commitment underscores Lake-Sumter State College’s focus on building a competitive program. It’s exciting to see another local player who we will get to see excel at the collegiate level the next two years.

One thing about Samantha is that she is a game changer. She is the kind of player who can go on a hot streak on the court and take over a game. Having seen her play multiple times, she is a fantastic athlete with a great personality. We are so happy for her and her family.

As Beatty prepares for this next chapter we want to congratulate her and everyone who has had an impact on this big decision! Way to go Sammi!
