Tavares PD Spotlight Turns Viral as Women Cat Call the City’s ‘Finest’

A routine Facebook post by the Tavares Police Department highlighting its Alpha Shift officers has gone viral — not for the update on public safety, but for the flood of flirty comments it sparked from local women.
The department’s post introduced Corporal Wilklow, Officer Welte, Officer Edwards, Officer Sauseda and Sergeant O’Shea. The caption praised the team for “keeping our streets safe” while many residents were just “figuring out how to work the coffee maker.”
But it wasn’t the words that caught attention — it was the photo of the five uniformed officers. The comments section quickly exploded with playful remarks, catcalls, and jokes about committing petty crimes just to get their attention.
“I’ve kept a clean record but I’d run a red light with no seat belt,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “Brb gotta drive to Tavares…might need a pat down 👀.”
Others jokingly asked for arrest, a calendar release, or directions to find their favorite officer off duty. “It should be criminal to be that sexy,” one woman posted, while another quipped, “Well, I think I need to change my zip code and commit some crime.”
The post has since gone viral in Lake County, drawing thousands of reactions, with many chiming in just to “read the comments.”
While most of the attention has been lighthearted, a few commenters reminded others that the officers are professionals with families. One man added wryly, “Jesus Christ ladies, drink a glass of water for that thirst.”
For now, the Alpha Shift crew continues its daily work keeping Tavares safe — but at least online, they’ve clearly earned a new nickname: “Tavares’ Finest.”
