Tavares Softball Gets Big Upset Win Against MDCA 5-3 FINAL

Tavares Softball ground out a big 5-3 win against MDCA last night. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Emersyn Lee, who pitched an incredible game from start to finish. It was the best performance of the year for Lee, who struck out 4 batters and only gave up 1 walk in the evening.

Tavares took a 2-0 lead early in the game. By the top of the 4th inning, Tavares was on top 4-0. A rally in the 6th inning saw MDCA get within 1 run, and the score was 4-3. However, Tavares added an extra run in the 7th, and MDCA had no answers at the end of the contest.

Sophomore Bailey Rasmussen scored 2 runs in the evening, while Aliyah Cantu-Lopez, Olivia Padilla, and Emma Pattee all got at least 2 hits in the evening.

It was a total team performance by the Lady Bulldogs and a huge upset win against a very good MDCA team. MDCA is now 7-4 on the year, while Tavares is 2-5. The win was just what Tavares needed. We knew this team was beginning to come together in the past few weeks, and this win was a big positive boost in the right direction for the team.

MDCA gets the weekend off to rest and prepare for some big games next week against Master’s Academy and Umatilla High. Tavares has one more game this week against FA-Leesburg, where they will be the favorite.
