Umatilla Coffee Shop Owner Mel Marie Brings Holiday Cheer to Children At Umatilla Elementary School
UMATILLA, Fla. — Mel Marie Crockett, the vivacious owner of Bear’s Beans and Bagels, brought joy and inspiration to a classroom of third graders at Umatilla Elementary School this week. Known for her warm demeanor and vibrant personality, Mel visited Sara Pina’s third grade class to share her christmas spirit.

Mel, whose popular coffee shop is located at 15 North Central Ave in Umatilla, has been a beloved figure in the community since it’s opening last year. Bear’s Beans and Bagels, with its motto “Support Your Local Caffeine Dealer,” is a local hotspot cherished for its welcoming atmosphere and delectable offerings.
During her visit, Mel captivated the students with her animated storytelling of Dr. Seuss’s How The Grinch Lost Christmas. It was a fun experience for everyone involved especially the kids.
(Mel was dressed in her best and did a great job reading to the local kids! Well done!)
Sara Pina, the classroom teacher, praised Mel for her involvement. “Mel did an awesome job! My class loved having her!” she said in a social media post.

Mel and her husband Bear opened their shop in honor of Bear’s grandfather who was in the coffee business as a distributor and passed away a few years ago. Bear’s Beans And Bagels is one of the top rated places in Umatilla to get a beverage or sandwich and it’s locally owned and operated by amazing people. The business has a 4.8 star review on Google. It’s certainly worth checking out if you are in the area.

Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.
For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.
Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
