United Southern Bank Partners With Greenlight to Help Parents Raise Financially Smart Kids

United Southern Bank (USB) has partnered with Greenlight® Financial Technology Inc. to offer families tools to build healthy financial futures. Through the Greenlight for Banks program, USB customers will receive free* access to Greenlight’s award-winning family finance app.
According to Greenlight survey data, 91% of kids and teens say they need financial knowledge and skills to achieve their life goals, and 94% of parents agree. However, only 35 states require students to take a personal finance course, and teens score an average of 64% on the National Financial Literacy Test. Additionally, 81% of parents say they wish they had more financial education tools, ranking personal finance as the most difficult life skill to teach.***
Greenlight offers a debit card and app that help kids and teens learn to earn, save, spend and give wisely — all with parental oversight. Parents can use the app to send money, automate allowance, manage chores, set spending controls, and receive real-time transaction notifications. Kids gain hands-on money management experience and access to Greenlight Level Up™, an in-app financial literacy game with a research-based curriculum, challenges and rewards.
“We are excited to provide this new perk to our customers,” says Connie Nelson, executive vice president and chief financial officer at USB. “Greenlight is an innovative financial literacy tool that we think will provide a lot of value to USB families.”
USB customers can register at greenlight.com/usouthernb and link their USB account as the funding source to receive a free* Greenlight subscription.
*United Southern Bank customers are eligible for the Greenlight SELECT plan at no cost when they connect a USB account as the Greenlight funding source for the duration of the promotion. Subject to identity verification and minimum balance requirements. Upgrades may result in additional fees. After the promotional period, standard monthly fees apply. Offer ends June 25, 2028.
