alzheimers-walkJoin the fun, and the cause, when the eighth annual Alzheimer’s Family Support Walk takes over The Villages Polo Club.

The event will take place Saturday, March 7, at the field, 703 N. Buena Vista Blvd. Registration begins at 8am with ceremonies starting at 9am, and the walk at 9:30am. Or register at https://alzheimersfamily.org/villageswalk/. Adult registrations cost $20, juniors (ages 6-12) $10 and children under age 6 are admitted free. Anyone can participate as a walker, sponsor or volunteer.

Last year, the Alzheimer’s Family Organization had almost 1,000 participants in this event, a news release states. The entry fee will benefit the AFO, whose services reach eight West-Central Florida counties, including Sumter County. The goal of the walk is to increase awareness of Alzheimer’s disease in the community and assist AFO in raising much-needed funds to continue support and education programs for families and caregivers.

Teams consisting of a minimum of 10 walkers are encouraged to sign up. New this year, teams can compete for the Most Spirit Award with ideas such as funky socks, hats, custom T-shirts and more. Have you been to the walk before? Show us your vintage shirts. Teams also will compete for first, second and third-place largest teams.

Skip the line at the registration table by coming to preregistration from 10am-2pm March 6 at New Covenant United Methodist Church, Summerhill Campus, 3470 Woodridge Drive in The Villages.alzheimers-support-walk-flier
