What is plastic surgery all about? Dr. Bosshardt’s new book spills the secrets.
Richard T. Bosshardt, MD, FACS, of Bosshardt & Marzek Plastic Surgery Associates in Tavares, published his new e-book on Amazon this week, which documents his journey of training under an iconic surgeon, named one of the top ten plastic surgeons of the millennium in 2000, Dr. D. Ralph Millard, Jr.
The summary reads:
What is plastic surgery? Why is it called plastic anyway? What do plastic surgeons do besides enlarge boobs and butts, nip noses, and tuck faces, arms, legs, and tummies? How does a physician become a plastic surgeon? It is remarkable that in 2023, an age where more information is available to everyone at the click of a button than at any time in human history, the general public and even many physicians still cannot answer these questions and others about my specialty. Books on or about plastic surgery abound, but most are technical tomes or thinly veiled promotions and advertisements for a particular surgeon or procedures. Doctors are notoriously poor at explaining medical matters to non-physicians and many of these latter books are almost unreadable. The Making of a Plastic Surgeon- Two Years in the Crucible Learning the Art and Science is different. It is an honest, unblinking, and refreshing look into a fascinating specialty that seems to be perennially in the news and media. The author, who has written on medical matters for over thirty years and is looking back on thirty threes of practice, takes you on his two-year journey to become a properly trained, board-certified plastic surgeon under one of the most iconic plastic surgeons in the history of the specialty.
