Wildwod Middle High School’s Shakeria Edwards Qualifies For FHSAA State Championships
Wildwood Middle High School freshman Shakeria “Shake” Edwards has qualified for the FHSAA State Championships after a successful regional meet that saw her jump to new heights. One year after Kendall Brown was setting records, a new exciting Freshman has come into the picture. Shakeria Edwards has been exciting to watch all year long. She has been impressive in the long jump, which is portion of Track & Field that Wildwood has been dominant in for years.
Edwards set a new personal best record jump of 5.06 meters which translates to 16.6 feet. She would wind up finishing first in the event and punch her ticket to the State Championships where she will now compete against some of the best competition in Florida. Shakeria also finished 2nd in the Woman’s 400 Meter Hurdles.
Meanwhile another Wildwood Middle High Student also punched their ticket to the FHSAA State Championships. Tamarionte Williams is a senior and competes in the discus throw. Kamarius Worthen would finishe in 1st place in the Men’s 400 Meter race with a time of 50.32 seconds which would qualify him for states.
Williams was able to to secure a first-place finish at the Regional Championships and will be headed to the state championships. In other Track & Field news for Wildwood the school took first place in the Mens 4X100 Relay Race with at time of 3:29 beating out Holy Trinity and Geneva School.
Mount Dora Christian Academy also had a good showing. Standouts include Maisey Anderson who finished 1st in the Woman’s Shot Put with 11.18 meters. Matt Carr finished 1st in the Men’s Pole Vault with 4.05 Meters, Tanner Schick finished 1st in the Men’s High Jump with 1.92 Meters.

Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.
For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.
Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
