Wildwood Alum Trades His Skills for Being a Mentor with Future Builders

Future Builders / Construction | Wildwood Middle High School

Jerry Lipham grew up watching what dedication to students looks like. His mother was a single parent raising five children while working as a teacher, and that example stayed with him. Another major influence came from his high school agriculture teacher, William Caruthers, whose patience and commitment to students showed how much one educator can change a life.

That lesson stuck.

Today, Jerry works with students in the Future Builders construction program at Wildwood Middle High School, helping them learn practical trade skills while also building confidence and work ethic. Jerry enjoys working with older students because it gives him the chance to help them think seriously about their future and discover career paths that fit their strengths.

The most rewarding moments come when students begin to see opportunities for themselves, whether that means entering the trades or simply gaining the skills and discipline to move forward.

Jerry hopes students leave his classroom remembering a calm, patient teacher who took the time to invest in their future.
