40 Under 40: Dasie Cruz, 12
Dasie Cruz, 12
Occupation: Polymer Clay Artist and Owner of The Perfect Pair by Dasie, Lake county
What I do: I create different earring designs and then I make them out of polymer clay. My designs range from Disney characters to custom pets. I also handle the marketing, packaging and delivery of my jewelry with my mom’s help.
My inspiration: I started making earrings in May of 2022 for myself, my sister and her friends. A few people kept saying I should try to sell them and so I did.
Why it’s my passion: I love being able to get creative and make things that people want to wear.
Notable achievement: Being able to give back to my community with the donations I make from my sales. Thirty percent of every sale is donated to a local nonprofit.
Words of wisdom: Never think you’re too young to start a business and use your talent for good.
When I’m not making earrings: I like spending time with my family, especially at Disney, playing with my dog and drawing/animating on my iPad.
Life after 40: I hope to continue making jewelry and growing my business even more so I can continue helping more people.
