South Lake High Hosts 4th Annual Eagle Jamboree Cheerleading Competition and Community Food Drive

GROVELAND, Fla. — The South Lake High School cheerleading program will host its 4th Annual Eagle Jamboree cheerleading competition on Wednesday, November 20th. This spirited event, held at South Lake High School, combines the excitement of competitive cheerleading with a heartfelt community initiative.

The Eagle Jamboree serves as a vital opportunity for teams to prepare for the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Regional and State series. Teams must compete in at least four qualifying events and achieve a raw score of 60 or higher at their regionals to advance in the State Series. Over 30 performances from cheer squads spanning from Bradenton to St. Augustine will showcase their talents, making this event a highlight of the season.

More than just a competition, the Eagle Jamboree doubles as a community food drive, a mission spearheaded by South Lake’s head coach Lacie Mitchell. Participating teams are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to help fight food insecurity in the area. The team donating the most items per team size will be awarded the coveted Eagle Award and a pizza party gift card.

“We wanted this event to mean something beyond the gym,” said the South Lake coach. “Cheerleading is about teamwork and community, and we wanted to bring those values to life by giving back.”

While South Lake’s cheerleading program participates in the food drive, they exclude themselves from contention for the Eagle Award to encourage competition among the visiting teams. Spectators and community members are also invited to contribute to the cause by dropping off donations at the designated table outside the gymnasium from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The competition kicks off at 5:00 PM. Admission is $10.00, with free entry for children aged 5 and under. All proceeds from the food drive will benefit local families in need.

For those attending, the message is clear: Bring your spirit, your cheers, and your non-perishable items to support an evening of incredible performances and community goodwill. Be sure to select a participating team for your donation to count toward their total!
