Still Time To Enter Mount Dora High Stadium Truck Raffle

There is still time to enter for a chance to win a brand new 2023 Toyota Tacoma. The Mount Dora High School Hurricanes are raffling off the brand-new truck to raise money for their stadium improvements. The winner will be drawn at the MDHS Homecoming game on October 6. Tickets are $100 each and only 3,000 tickets are being sold. We are just about a week away until the winner will be drawn.
All proceeds from the raffle go to support the MDHS Stadium Improvement Project. This is vital to the long term viability of the athletics teams who use the field. The field has already had new grass installed, and new drainage to improve the safety of the student athletes, however they need to remodel the buildings and resurface the track to finish the renovations.

(The new state of the art press box would replace the existing and heavily aging one that has been in place since the 1960s at least. The new press box would have room on top for a dedicated camera crew, broadcast crews on the second level and concessions and office space on the first level.)

The stadium truck raffle has been a fun and unique way of raising funds for the stadium improvement plan. The support from the community has been a huge success. While the winner will be announced at homecoming, there still remains work to do as far as raising the funds necessary for this project to be complete.
The project has raised $1,00,000 so far and the ultimate goal is $3,000,000. The school is over 100 years old since being founded and the field is well past its prime. In fact the facilities have not been touched in nearly 50 years. When you go to watch a game at Mount Dora High, its like traveling back in time.

(Regardless of how old the stadium is, this view from the home grandstands is one of teh best in all of football. This view and stadium must be saved. The sunsets during the first half of games are what Friday Night Lights Football is all about.)

Mount Dora High is perhaps one of the most beautiful settings I have ever personally watched a football game. When the sun is setting behind the beautiful trees and the shadows of the players loom large over the playing field, it is one of the most majestic things to watch.
One of the things that this project will not include is an artificial turf football field. We were told by the committee doing this project that this is not part of the plan and that the field will remain natural grass for the foreseeable future. I actually applaud this move as natural grass is safer, in my opinion. The Mount Dora High crew has always done a good job at getting the field in good playing shape so this is actually a huge win for the players, coaches and parents who can rest easier knowing non-contact injuries should be lower on the natural surface.

(The new track would be of orange and black color instead of a red traditional look.)

The thing that the stadium would absolutely love to have above all else is the track. Currently the track is not capable of hosting big events in its condition. Schools like South Sumter and The Villages, who just installed new tracks, will be the primary location where events will happen. However, a new track would allow for district meets and other larger events that the school simply cannot handle right now with the shape the track is in.

(Scan the QR Code in order to enter the Raffle. You only have a short amount of time left as Mount Dora High will draw the truck during Homecoming.)

With your help, the Mount Dora Community bowl can be restored to the wonderful students and their families. MDCA recently had a brand new track and field put in about 6 or 7 years ago, and while that is a private Christian School, the results have been very positive for the students and families that utilize the facilities.
