122nd Annual Georgefest in Eustis Continues Despite Rainy Start
Despite a rainy start, the 122nd Annual Georgefest in Eustis kicked off with enthusiasm and resilience. This long-standing community event isn’t over yet. There’s plenty more in store with better weather (cross your fingers) in the forecast.
The rainy weather didn’t dampen the spirits of participants in the 5th Annual Georgefest Open Team Bass Tournament on Sunday. Hosted by Gibson Construction and Florida Bass Nation, the tournament paid tribute to the late PFC Derek Gibson, a Bronze Star recipient from Eustis. Despite the challenging conditions, 39 teams competed, with Dennis Young and Herman Young emerging victorious, who brought in their black bass weighing 21.35 pounds and claiming the top prize of $2,500. Austin Mairena and Joey Bloom secured the heaviest catch of the day, reeling in a bass weighing 6.6 pounds.
Additionally, the Miss Georgefest pageant added to the festivities, crowning winners who embody the spirit of Eustis. Among the winners were Chloie Sebree as Miss Eustis, Sydnie Sebree as Teen Miss Eustis, and Caroline Schapansky as Miss Georgefest.
While the Ice Cream Social was rescheduled due to inclement weather, attendees can look forward to this event at 6pm today at the Clifford House.
The excitement continues with the carnival, beginning on Thursday night and extending through Sunday, offering thrilling rides and entertainment for all ages.

Friday at 8pm – Tracy Byrd: A stalwart of traditional country music, Tracy Byrd’s chart-topping hits and timeless classics have solidified his place in the hearts of country music enthusiasts. With memorable songs like “Holdin’ Heaven” and “Watermelon Crawl,” Byrd’s performances promise an unforgettable journey through the heartland of country music.
Saturday at 7:30 pm – Drake White: Hailing from Alabama, Drake White infuses his performances with infectious energy and authentic storytelling, earning recognition as one of country music’s most spirited innovators. With his soul-stirring vocals and heartfelt lyrics, White promises a soulful and electrifying musical experience.
