Beacon College Women’s Track Team Wins USCAA National Champion in 4×100 Relay and 100M Race

Beacon College’s Women’s track and field team claimed the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national championship in the 4×100 relay on April 25 at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Jaylen Williams also successfully defended two national titles, winning the women’s 100-meter dash and the long jump for the second consecutive year. The championships mark the second straight year Beacon College has qualified athletes for the USCAA national championship.

The national champion 4×100 relay team included:
  • Tmyrah Carter, freshman, human services, Alachua, Fla.
  • JaLay Harris-Burnes, senior, human services, Portland, Ore.
  • Melisa Schwab, freshman, computer information systems, Sarasota, Fla.
  • Jaylen Williams, junior, business management, West Chester, Pa.
Other notable team performances included:
  • Jaylen Williams, USCAA national champion, women’s 100 meters and women’s long jump
  • JaLay Harris-Burnes, sixth place, women’s triple jump
  • Justin Johnson, sophomore, design and digital media, Atlanta, Ga., 14th place, men’s shot put
  • Tmyrah Carter, 12th place, women’s shot put
“Qualifying for a national event is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and resilience all season long,” said head coach Tony Wrice. “There’s no greater thrill than watching our student athletes achieve something they thought was unreachable. We’re excited to take on the challenge and represent Beacon College on the national stage.”
