Deputy Fire Chief Shawn Kelleher has been named the next chief of the Eustis Fire Department and will officially assume the role on Sept. 4.

Kelleher succeeds Fire Chief Michael Swanson, who is retiring after serving as the city’s fire chief for more than 11 years.

A member of the Eustis Fire Department since 2010, Kelleher began his career as a part-time firefighter and has advanced through the ranks over the past 16 years.

“Kelleher has extensive experience with our community and is an integral part of the Eustis Fire Department,” Interim City Manager Rick Gierok says. “We look forward to his continued leadership in this new role.”

As he prepares to take over the department, Kelleher says he plans to focus on supporting firefighters while continuing to foster a strong team environment.

“I’m honored and humbled to serve as the next Fire Chief for Eustis Fire Department,” Kelleher says. “I’ve had the privilege of serving this department throughout my career and am committed to building on our tradition of service, integrity and accountability.”

The Eustis Fire Department provides fire protection, emergency response and public safety education for the community.
