Inaugural Latin Music Festival is Saturday in Mount Dora
The inaugural Fiesta de Mi Gente – “Party of My People” – Latin Music Festival is to be held on Saturday, October 21 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Elizabeth Evans Park in Mount Dora.
Presented by the Rotary Club of Lake County Golden Triangle, this family-friendly event features disc jockey Angel Rivera, producer and on-air personality at 104.1 Real Radio Monsters in the Morning. The music schedule also includes four live bands celebrating Latin music heritage and genres. Food trucks offer an assortment of cuisines and desserts available for purchase. The Rotary club hosts cash bars for adults 21 years and older.
General admission is $10 per person in advance. Children under 10 years old are admitted free. In cooperation with the city of Mount Dora, advance tickets are available for purchase at www.tix.com/ticket-sales/cityofmountdora/7155/event/1345643. General admission tickets will be available for purchase at the gate during the event for $15 per person aged 10 years and older.
“This will be a welcoming family event with entertainment and food representing the diversity of Latino and Hispanic heritage in our area,” said Michell Middleton, event chair and immediate past president of the Rotary club. “We plan for this year to be the first year of many years to come of this celebratory event.”
“This event embodies Rotary International’s commitment to service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership,” added Richard Guckenberger, event co-chair and president of the club.
Event sponsorship, ranging from $200 to $5,000 levels, is available to individuals and corporations. Net proceeds from the event will be invested into Rotary’s scholarship fund which supports local youth as well as community service projects.

2:30 p.m. Gates Open
3:00 p.m. DJ Angel Rivera
3:30 – 4:15 p.m. Kalinda presents Bomba music and dance, the traditional dance and musical style of Puerto Rico. With origins rooted in the island’s history of African slavery, Bomba today has become a communal expression of Afro-Puerto Rican culture in celebration of African ancestry.
4:15 – 4:45 p.m. DJ Angel Rivera
4:45 – 6:00 p.m. Los DPR presents Rock Urbano by three Puerto Rican musicians based in Orlando Florida who united in their passion for music.
6:15 – 6:45 p.m. DJ Angel Rivera
6:45 – 8:15 p.m. Rico Monaco Band features eight musicians including two horn players. A fusion of Latin Rock and Pop, these musicians won a National Battle of the Bands sponsored by Cabo Wabo & Hard Rock Café.
8:15 – 9:00 p.m. DJ Angel Rivera
9:00 – 10:00 p.m. Metro Latino is a musical group with an expertise in all styles of Latin music featuring some of the best talent on the East Coast.
