Joe Iozzi Selected as New Leesburg Police Chief

The City of Leesburg has announced that Captain Joe Iozzi has been selected as the city’s new Chief of Police, replacing former Chief and new Deputy City Manager Rob Hicks.

Chief Iozzi has served as Bureau Commander for Uniformed Services and Special Services & Investigations, and has provided dedicated service to the citizens of Leesburg since 1994. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia College. He has completed the FBI National Academy’s 281st Session, the Southern Police Institute’s 127th Administrative Officers Course at the University of Louisville, and the Florida Police Chiefs Association’s “Future Chiefs” seminar.

As a command officer since 2014, he has provided direct supervision and management in personnel matters, department planning, training, policy creation, budgeting, and general department-related functions. He has demonstrated the importance of direct leadership, with accessibility and accountability to all citizens. His belief in community-oriented policing has successfully developed cohesive relationships with citizens, business owners, elected officials, and community stakeholders throughout his career. He has a diverse understanding of policing concepts critical to all community-driven objectives.

Chief Iozzi welcomes the opportunity to lead the men and women of the Leesburg Police Department as Chief of Police, and his nearly three decades of living and working in Leesburg make him a uniquely qualified leader for the position.
