Leesburg High School Achieves 91% Graduation Rate, Breaking a 98-Year Record
Leesburg High School has achieved a record-breaking milestone, with the Florida Department of Education announcing a 91% graduation rate for the 2023-2024 school year. This marks the first time in the school’s 98-year history that it has surpassed the 90% graduation rate threshold.
This remarkable achievement reflects a significant turnaround since 2017, when the school’s graduation rate was just 67% when Michael Randolph took over as principal. Over the past seven years, Leesburg High School’s “Jacket Family” has worked diligently to improve academic outcomes, with the school exceeding an 85% graduation rate for the fourth consecutive year.
Randolph, who led Leesburg High School during this transformative period, expressed his gratitude and pride:
“This accomplishment is the result of the collective effort of our Jacket FAMILY. Thank you to our teachers, administrators, and staff for your hard work and trust in our process. Thank you to our community for your commitment to excellence and support. Most importantly, thank you to our Jacket FAMILY scholars for your belief, skill, and will! Through our collective efforts, each Leesburg scholar is graduating with the skills necessary for success in college, a career, or the military.”
Randolph has recently transitioned to a new position within the district, but Leesburg High School will continue its mission under the leadership of Andrea Pyatt, who is committed to maintaining and building upon this momentum.
