Local McDonalds Locations Now Charging Extra Fee For Sauce

1 min read| Published On: July 31st, 2024|

Gone are the days when you could pull into a local McDonald’s in Lake or Sumter County and order free sauce. McDonald’s has implemented a new policy, charging customers for sauces. The price now ranges from 20 to 30 cents per sauce, depending on the location. This change affects certain sauces that were free just a few days ago, leading to widespread frustration among customers.

(This was taken off the McDonalds mobile app on July 31st, 2024. As you can see, McDonalds is now officially charging for sauces. However not all have been affected.)

The sauces that will now cost extra include BBQ Sauce, Sweet ‘N Sour Dipping Sauce, Creamy Ranch Sauce, Honey Mustard Sauce, Spicy Buffalo Sauce, and Syrup.

We reached out to McDonald’s corporate for an explanation, but they did not immediately respond to the changes in pricing.

Historically, McDonald’s has always provided sauces for free. Now, customers will have to pay extra for these previously complimentary items. McDonald’s is not the only restaurant to implement this policy; Dairy Queen has been doing this for many years in Leesburg along with a few other chains.

With the current economic climate, is this change necessary? Considering that the price of a McChicken is now $2.99 at almost all locations and the steady increase in prices this is yet another interesting move. How do you feel about this? Are you okay with McDonald’s now charging an extra fee for sauce?

McDonald’s here has been “marginal” in Lady Lake as it is. Have you ever had a Big Mac that consisted of bun, meat, bun, meat bun? That’s it! No sauce, no other condiments on it. How about the fish sandwich, with only an eighth of the cheese ON the sandwich, the rest on the wrapper? They’re just shooting themselves in the foot. They can’t exist just because their Coke may taste good!
