MONTVERDE, Fla. — Montverde Academy announced Steve Turner as the new head coach of its nationally acclaimed boys basketball program on Wednesday, ushering in a new chapter for the Boys National Team. Turner, a seasoned coach with a proven track record, brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to fostering both athletic and academic success.

With a career record of 497-176, Turner has established himself as one of the top high school basketball coaches in the country. His resume includes multiple Coach of the Year awards and stints with USA Basketball, where he coached some of the nation’s elite talent. Turner emphasizes player development on and off the court, preparing student-athletes for success beyond the game.

“Montverde Academy is thrilled to welcome Coach Steve Turner to our family,” the school said in a statement. “His legacy of success and dedication to developing well-rounded individuals aligns perfectly with our mission. We are excited for this new era of MVA basketball under his leadership.”

Turner takes the helm of a program renowned for its dominance in high school basketball with 8 National Championships to their credit. The program was built up by legendary coach Kevin Boyle who has decided to take a coaching position with Spire Academy in Ohio at the end of this season. Coach Boyle consistently produced top-tier talent, most recently Cooper Flagg who plays with Duke and will likely become the #1 pick in the NBA Draft this upcoming year.

While Coach Boyle might be headed to Ohio at seasson’s end, coach Turner brings excitement to the program and we are excited to see what he is capable of. Welcome to Lake County coach!
