Mount Dora Babe Ruth 14-U All-Star Baseball Team Headed To State Championships

The Mount Dora Babe Ruth 14-U All-Star Team is headed to the State Championships this week in Sarasota. This team has worked incredibly hard and will be facing some of the top up-and-coming talent in the state of Florida!

Back in May, the Mount Dora Babe Ruth team finished second. Over the next few weeks, the team fought hard and practiced diligently to play in a five-game series to determine if they would be sent home or win the district and advance to states.

(Mount Dora captured the district championship recently and will head to the state championship.)

The team went 4-1 to become the district champions and advance to the State Championship series. This is the first time in history that the Mount Dora 14-U team has made the state championships!

This select group of young men has the opportunity to advance all the way to the National Tournament. With the costs of travel, the team is asking for any help as they represent our county. “All funds donated will be used to help cover all expenses related to the upcoming tournament. Our team will be extremely grateful for any support you can provide,” says Lukas Wishork. To help the team out you can contact mountdorababeruth@gmail.com

(This team has worked very hard to make it to this point. They have a chance to make it to Nationals if they do well during the state championship this weekend. We are proud of them either way.)

This is a big moment for this program. The team is coached by Chris Kelly, Erik Gonzalez, Jeremy Moskaloff, and Jason Yero. Together, they have done an incredible job of coaching this team to the district championship and the state championship.

We are proud of this team and wish them the best of luck as they attempt to qualify for the National Championships! The games start on Thursday and end on Sunday. Good luck!
