Mount Dora Track & Field Athletes Qualify for FSU Relay’s

The Mount Dora Hurricanes Track & Field Team is off to a huge start to the 2024 season. Six track & field athletes have qualified for the FSU Relays, representing the best competition.

Track & Field coach Cody Adkinson says, “We have a really talented group and we are actually taking 6 athletes to the FSU relays that qualified individually to compete. Qualifying for this event is extremely tough. We are proud of everything this group has accomplished so far, and they will represent Mount Dora High well at the track meet,” says Coach Adkinson.

Qualifying for the event, which will take place on March 22nd and 23rd, are:

  • Kris Kupinski: Pole Vault – Ranked #2 in Class 2A in the state at 4.37M
  • Zachary Cho-Sam: 400M Hurdles – #9 in Class 2A at 58.56s
  • Afrifa Amoah Mensah: Triple Jump – #6 in Class 2A at 13.28M
  • Noelle Vu: 800M – #4 at 2:20, 1600M #16 at 5:21, and 3200M #36 in Class 2A.
  • Reese Horbal: Triple Jump – #12 at 10.72M, High Jump #2 in the state at 1.58M
  • Hannah Douglas 3200M #21 at 11:45.

A huge congratulations to all of these athletes. They are having a stellar start to the season. Cody Adkinson continues to impress us year after year with the prowess that his athletes have shown. Mount Dora High School is off to a great start. We wish the Hurricanes the best of luck at the FSU Relays next week! Go Canes!

Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.

For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.

Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
