Residents’ Town Hall Aims to ‘Keep Rep. Webster Accountable’

“The world’s gone crazy,” Cyn Doyle says. “That’s why I have to do something.”
The 70-year-old, whose LinkedIn page lists her occupation as “Activist,” has been doing “something” since 1968 when, as a 13-year-old, her mother took her to the Poor People’s March and encampment Washington, D.C.
She and her family were one of the few white people. “My mother was inebriated. She took us all over the country, driving drunk, I thought it was exciting,” she says, unaware of the danger at the time.
When her mother entered rehab, she was sent to live with her career Marine Corps dad.
“I had a hard life.”

But she was hooked on protest after hearing the Rev. Ralph Abernathy speak after the Rev. Martin Luther King was assassinated.
Cyn, who sat for an interview while sipping a cup of water at MacDonald’s, seemed surprised when she learned about the LinkedIn reference. “I didn’t do that,” she says. She owns her own business, recruiting health-care workers for different companies. Lake Indivisibles is a volunteer, shoestring- budget affair, though there is a national network. There is a GoFundMe account on Facebook.
She says people associate her with the Democratic Party. No wonder, since she is against Elon Musk, and all things President Trump. But she says she is “NPA” – non-party affiliate, which is a growing trend among voters.
“I did work for Bernie,” she says, referring to Sen. Bernie Sanders, the democratic socialist who ran for president in 2016.
“I chose not to be a party girl. Political parties have too much power,” she says. “It should be power to the people.”
In an email to Lake/Sumter Style about the town hall, she wrote: “This is a strict NON-partisan event. If Webster doesn’t show, we will have the community ask the questions, then put them out for discussion for a few minutes. There will be no political hats, clothing or signs allowed. We hope to be able to find some common ground within our community but just in case, we will have a police presence.”
“Congressman Webster will not be attending this event organized by Indivisible,” Webster’s communications director, Adam Pakledinaz, said in an email to Style on Wednesday.
“The Congressman is committed to engaging with constituents across Florida’s 11th District, regularly meeting with constituents in a variety of formats – most recently holding a tele-town hall with over 20,000 participants.
“Indivisible is a far-left progressive political organization that does not act in good faith. While Congressman Webster respects the right of all Americans to exercise their First Amendment rights, he will not use taxpayer-funded resources to provide a platform for orchestrated disruptions intended to create media spectacles.
“Congressman Webster remains committed to delivering real results for his constituents – strengthening our economy, restoring fiscal responsibility, and securing our nation’s borders – not playing into the hands of partisan political operatives.”
“We will not be using taxpayers’ funds,” Cyn had written to Pakledinaz. “The Residents Town Hall is being brought together with community funds.”
Democrats for their part are spending big money and working hard to cut into the slim Republican majority in the House. They spent nearly $10 million, a 10-to1 ratio, to try and beat Randy Fine, the newly elected congressman whose district includes Mount Dora.
Last month, they taunted incumbent Republican Cory Mills in Seminole County with an empty chair stunt when he didn’t show up for a town hall meeting, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Cyn organizes protests against the Tesla dealership in Clermont, convinced that the billionaire businessman’s efforts to unmask fraud and abuse in government spending is aiding his businesses, including Space X.
Sanders calls him an “oligarch,” the Russian term for rich businessmen who benefitted when the Soviet Union collapsed. Sanders spent his honeymoon in the Soviet Union.
The Tesla dealer in Clermont, who only identified himself with his first name, Eladell, for safety reasons, said the protests have had no effect on his business.
Other issues that have Cyn fired up include:
· Concern that religion is working its way into government. “What about separation of church and state?”
Cyn, who says, “I’ve never been so convinced the country is becoming caput,” says she wants people to come together.

Please tell me if you got a notice about our congressman’s town hall, and if you did, what party are you?
Lake County Indivisibles is NOT a far-left political organization. We are a NON-partisan We, the People organization.
You may wear whatever you would like. We changed that many weeks ago. Please come to the Town Hall. We are there to express concerns and to find common ground. That is why ALL are invited!
It seems as if the author is trying to connect Bernie Sanders to Russia.
From Snopes:
“Jane Sanders and then-Mayor Bernie Sanders traveled to the Soviet Union shortly after their wedding as part of a government trip to establish a sister-city relationship between Burlington, Vermont, and Yaroslavl. Sanders has previously joked that this trip was a “strange honeymoon.”
What’s False
This trip was not a “honeymoon” in the traditional sense and did not occur during the “height of the cold war.” The purpose of this trip was to establish a sister city in Russia, not for the newlyweds to enjoy a romantic getaway. Bernie and Jane Sanders took their real honeymoon in St. Lucia in the Caribbean the following year.”
