Tavares High School Names Football Field After Dr. Dan Boggus

For nearly four decades, Dr. Dan Boggus has been more than a physician to Tavares High School, he has been a steadfast guardian, a trusted mentor and a living example of selfless service.
Since 1985, Dr. Boggus has volunteered his time and expertise to the students of THS, providing countless free physicals, serving as the team doctor on Friday nights, and always being just a phone call away whenever a student needed medical attention. His work has never been motivated by recognition or personal gain, but by a genuine love for his community and a deep belief in caring for its young people.
Dr. Boggus’s philanthropic contributions are unparalleled, serving as a generational team doctor for thousands of students, faculty and families of Tavares High School. In an era when medical services are often difficult to access and expensive, his generosity ensured that no THS student-athlete ever missed an opportunity to compete because of a lack of care.
For nearly forty years, he has stood on the sidelines or courts, rain or shine, watching over players as though they were his own children. His service represents the very best of what it means to give back, embodying a level of dedication that words can hardly capture.

(Tavares High renamed the field to Dr. Dan Boggus Field.)
The Boggus family’s legacy at Tavares High School stretches back even further. The school’s stadium proudly bears the name of Argin A. Boggus, Dan’s father, who served as the team doctor for many years before passing the torch to his son. Together, father and son have provided nearly a century of combined service to the students and athletes of THS. Their commitment has become woven into the very fabric of the school’s history, shaping its identity and ensuring that every Bulldog knows they are cared for both on and off the field.
With this extraordinary history in mind, Tavares High School could not think of a better way to honor the Boggus family than by naming the football field after Dr. Dan Boggus. Just as the stadium honors his father’s service, the field itself will now reflect the son’s tireless devotion. This tribute will do more than recognize decades of volunteerism, it will cement the Boggus family legacy in the heart of Bulldog Nation, standing as a permanent reminder to future generations of what true service, compassion and community leadership look like.

(Dr. Boggus stands with family and friends who celebrated this amazing man who has given so much to Tavares High and Lake County over his many years.)
