Tavares Senior Leilani Cummings Leader On And Off The Court
TAVARES, Fla. — Tavares High School senior Leilani Cummings is proving to be a standout both on the volleyball court and in the classroom.
As the libero for the Tavares Bulldogs varsity volleyball team, Cummings has put up impressive numbers this season, recording 17 aces, 83 digs, and 186 receptions. The 12th grader, wearing jersey No. 1, has been playing the sport for six years and is a key defensive leader for her team.
Off the court, Cummings maintains a 4.2 weighted GPA, balancing her academic pursuits with her athletic commitments. She is actively involved in several extracurricular activities, serving as Senior Class Secretary and participating in the National Honor Society, Key Club, HOSA, and FCA.
Cummings’ volleyball journey will continue this club season, as she prepares to compete with AAC 18 National which is a travel volleyball team. She’s a terrific player who Tavares High will rely upon heavily in a District Semifinal matchup against Mount Dora on Tuesday night for a trip to the District Finals on the line where Tavares or Mount Dora will either face Bishop Moore or Eustis.
Her leadership and dedication, both in volleyball and within her school community, have made Cummings a key figure at Tavares High as she wraps up her senior year. We have enjoyed watching her on the volleyball court the past few years and this is just the beginning for Cummings.
