The Villages Golden Girls Cheer Team Excel At NDA Citrus Regional Championship
Middleton, FL – The Villages Golden Girls cheerleading team had an exceptional showing at the NDA Dance Citrus Regional Championship held at The Villages High School on Saturday. The event, which brought together numerous talented teams, was an exciting day filled with impressive performances, and the Golden Girls stood out with their remarkable achievements.
The Golden Girls earned a series of top honors across multiple categories, showcasing their versatility and dedication. The Varsity squad claimed the top prize in Large Varsity Game Day and brought home second-place finishes in Varsity High Kick, Large Varsity Pom, and Large Varsity Jazz. Meanwhile, the Junior Varsity team also shone, taking home gold in JV Game Day, JV High Kick, and JV Pom, as well as a second-place finish in JV Jazz.
In addition to their individual category triumphs, the Golden Girls were recognized with the prestigious Pass the Positivity Varsity Community Champion Award. This honor was presented to the team for their embodiment of sportsmanship and their commitment to the core values of integrity, spirit, kindness, and unity. The Golden Girls have continuously demonstrated their efforts to build a stronger community through positive actions, both on and off the competition floor.
Coach Shelly Warren praised the team’s hard work and perseverance, congratulating them for their outstanding performance. “I am incredibly proud of how both our Varsity and JV teams represented The Villages at the Citrus Regional Championship,” said Warren. “This recognition is a testament to their dedication to excellence and the core values that we instill in our program.”
The Villages Golden Girls now look forward to continuing their competition journey this season.

Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.
For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.
Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
