Trinity Catholic Volleyball Shows Support For Local Student Haley Williams Battling Cancer
In a heartwarming display of unity, Trinity Catholic High School’s volleyball team donned orange in support of Haley Williams, a local student courageously battling leukemia. The team’s gesture was captured in photos shared by Haley’s mother, Lena, showing the Celtics rallying together for a greater cause. But it was not just the Celtics that were wearing orange, St. Johns Lutheran showed up and also wore orange in an awesome display of unity between the two programs.
Trinity Catholic, currently ranked #5 in Florida, played with determination and heart in their 3-0 victory over St. John Lutheran. They now move to 13-3 on the year. The team’s dominant performance reflected not only their top-tier skill but also their commitment to playing for Haley who is a Freshman.
Junior Maddie Hewitson, who leads the team with 121 kill shots this season, and sophomore Ashlyn Hallick, close behind with nearly 100 kills, continue to make the Celtics a powerhouse on the court. We have also seen orange around Lake & Sumter County Florida from various players and teams. They do this to raise awareness about Luekemia. It’s a terrible thing for anyone to have and we continue to pray that Haley will overcome and beat it.
With an impressive season under their belts, Trinity Catholic is emerging as a strong favorite for the State Championship, and their unity and dedication off the court only add to their inspiring journey.
