President Donald Trump spent around 90 minutes speaking Friday at The Villages Charter School, delivering remarks that focused on eliminating taxes on Social Security, lowering prescription drug costs and addressing broader economic concerns.

The event, held inside the Buffalo Sports Complex, drew roughly 2,000 attendees, with an additional overflow crowd of about 1,000. Large lines formed well before doors opened, with many attendees waiting for hours to get inside and some arriving the day before to secure a spot.

President Trump centered much of his speech on economic policy, emphasizing proposals aimed at seniors, including eliminating taxes on Social Security benefits and tips.

“We’re going to have no tax on Social Security, no tax on tips, and we’re going to take care of our seniors and our workers,” President Trump says.

He also addressed prescription drug costs, specifically highlighting weight-loss medications, saying he would work to make drugs like Ozempic more affordable through Medicare.

“We’re going to get those drug prices down to a level nobody’s ever seen before,” Trump says, adding that costs could be reduced to around $50 a month.

The president also touched on rising gas prices and inflation, acknowledging recent increases while tying them to broader global issues, including U.S. involvement in international conflicts.

“We’re in a war,” he says. “We cannot let lunatics have a nuclear weapon.”

In addition to economic topics, President Trump addressed immigration enforcement and other issues, drawing strong reactions from the crowd throughout the speech. He stated that by deporting illegals, we are preventing thousands of murders.

President Trump was joined briefly on stage by television personality Dr. Phil McGraw (Dr. Phil), who praised President Trump for his leadership and efforts to get the job done.

Dr. Oz was also in the crowd, but ended up escorting a lady who was having a medical issue out of the room to get help.

Friday’s appearance marked President Trump’s first public event in Florida following a reported assassination attempt and his third visit to The Villages since 2019. The retirement community, one of the largest in the country, has long been considered a strong base of support.

Earlier in the program, long-time Villages resident and World War II veteran Irving Locker was escorted on stage to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and The Villages High School girls choir sang an arrangement of The National Anthem.

Also speaking at the event was U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th Congressional District and is currently running for governor. Donalds addressed the crowd ahead of President Trump’s remarks, touching on economic issues and the direction of the state, while reinforcing themes centered on growth and policy priorities in Florida.
