Two Lake County Schools Selected for Johnny’s House School Supply Grand Prize

Two Lake County elementary schools are getting a major boost as the new school year approaches, thanks to the generosity of Central Florida radio station XL 106.7 and its popular morning program, Johnny’s House.
Beverly Shores Elementary in Leesburg and Fruitland Park Elementary were among just 10 schools selected for the show’s annual school supply giveaway. The initiative, funded through the station’s Baby DJ holiday program, will provide more than $4,000 worth of school supplies to each selected school—delivered by box truck directly to their campus in the coming weeks.
Typically, the program supports eight schools each year, but due to overwhelming need, the team expanded the list to 10. According to the show, 126 Title I schools across Central Florida submitted letters explaining their challenges and why the support was needed.
The funds used for the giveaway come from excess donations made to the Baby DJ toy drive, a longtime community effort spearheaded by show host Johnny Magic to help underprivileged families during the holidays.
The team also announced that members of the community or businesses can “adopt a school” by donating $4,000. The station will then match donors with schools that applied but weren’t selected this year.
For Beverly Shores and Fruitland Park Elementary, the unexpected support will help ensure students have the supplies they need to start the year strong.
