Villages Graduate Caleb Bevis Signs to Play Football With Northwestern Oklahoma State University

Great news out of Sumter County as Caleb Bevis has signed with Northwestern Oklahoma State University! Caleb is remembered for his resilience on and off the field. Caleb had to go through a rigorous recovery after smashing his hand a few years ago during a freak accident during a weightlifting session. The 6’3 245 pound offensive tackle was excited to announce his new opportunity. If you are interested in Caleb’s comeback story you can click here to view the story:

(During the 2021 and 2022 football season, Bevis opened up plenty of opportunities for then running back Alvon Isaac and others to scramble for touchdowns.)

During his time with The Villages, Caleb fought hard especially through his injury and became one of The Villages’ top offensive linemen during the 2021 and 2022 football seasons. As Bevis turned his attention to college, he thought his playing days were over as he fully intended to focus fully on academics. However, the enjoyment of the game of football was too much, and Caleb decided to begin looking for places to play.

Last week, Caleb signed with Northwestern Oklahoma State University, an NCAA Division II Program. The Rangers are getting a solid offensive lineman who does everything that is asked of him and more. Caleb is such a joy to watch play the game because he truly appreciates and enjoys every moment when he is on the field.

“I know I said I was done, but the itch to play football never left me. After a great visit to their campus a couple of weeks ago, I am beyond happy to say I will be continuing my football journey with Northwestern Oklahoma State University! Can’t wait to get started!” says Caleb Bevis in a recent social media post.

(The moment right after Caleb Bevis’s last high school football game. Looking back towards the field and not wanting to let go of the game he loves. It’s a feeling all to familiar to so many who have played the game. Caleb will now get another shot with NWOS in the fall of 2024.)

Caleb is the ultimate comeback story. Just like when he came back from his injury that he suffered to his hand, Bevis is once again coming back to play the game he loves and doing it at a high level. The NCAA Division II level provides some amazing competition.

Caleb was also part of The Villages’ State Championship basketball team that made it to the State Finals in 2023. Caleb is remembered for getting some of the loudest cheers ever heard in The Villages gym, especially when he would score a basket.

Congratulations to his parents, Cheri and Darrin Bevis, along with his friends, family, and coaches that have backed him. We are very happy for Caleb and wish him the best at NOSU!
