West Leesburg CDC To Build Two New Townhomes To Revitalize Carver Heights Neighborhood
LEESBURG, Fla. — The West Leesburg Community Development Corporation (CDC) has announced plans to build two new townhomes in the Carver Heights neighborhood, marking a significant step toward revitalizing the area. The project aims to assist families in becoming first-time homeowners while helping to eliminate blight from the city of Leesburg. Attending the soft groundbreaking with District 1, included Commissioner Allyson Berry, President Fred Griffin Jr. President Mary Tucker, Board Member Linda Mobley & Realtor D’Mani Nettles.
The two townhomes will be constructed in the heart of Carver Heights, an area slated for redevelopment. One home will be built on each side of the block, enhancing the neighborhood’s curb appeal and transforming the previously abandoned properties. The homes will be built by Kevco Builders Inc.
“This is a great opportunity for us to help families achieve homeownership for the first time, while also saving taxpayers money,” said Fred Griffin Jr., President of West Leesburg CDC. “By taking advantage of grant opportunities, we can renovate these abandoned homes and breathe new life into the community.”
The project is being hailed as a milestone for West Leesburg CDC, which is undertaking its first build in the community. Commissioner Berry commended the effort, stating, “Congratulations to West Leesburg CDC for their first build in the community. This is another step towards working together and building together.”
The West Leesburg CDC’s is a 501(c)3 organization that promotes education, unity, and service. The new townhomes are expected to be sold to first-time homebuyers, fulfilling a key part of this mission.
