Lake County voters were backing familiar names in several closely watched local races Tuesday night as unofficial primary election results continued to roll in.

As of 7:57 pm, 91 of Lake County’s 92 precincts were reporting, with 69,574 ballots cast among 278,944 registered voters for a turnout of 24.94%. Early voting was completely reported, while Election Day and vote-by-mail totals remained partially reported.

In the Republican primary for Lake County Commission District 2, Sean M. Parks held a commanding lead over Humberto Liriano with 34,159 votes, or 86.21%, compared with Liriano’s 5,462 votes, or 13.79%.

Leslie Campione

In County Commission District 4, Leslie Campione led David Williamson with 24,863 votes, or 61.81%, to Williamson’s 15,363 votes, or 38.19%.

The Lake County School Board District 1 race showed Pat Kelley ahead with 35,690 votes, or 58.52%, while Eric Schwalbach had 25,301 votes, or 41.48%.

Nicole M. Morris also held a sizable Lake County advantage over Lisa Yeager in the nonpartisan Fifth Judicial Circuit Judge Group 27 race. Morris had 35,523 votes, or 58.33%, compared with Yeager’s 25,376 votes, or 41.67%.

In Groveland, where all six participating precincts were reporting, Keith “Chef” Keogh received 2,208 votes, or 70.23%, in the mayoral race. Judith Fike received 521 votes, or 16.57%, and Dina Sweatt received 415 votes, or 13.20%.

Daniel Webster and Carey Baker

In the Republican primary for U.S. House District 11, Lake County Property Appraiser Carey Baker led the Lake County portion of the race with 11,669 votes, or 41.32%.

Joe Strada followed with 9,058 votes, or 32.07%, while Tim Wilkins had 5,712 votes, or 20.23%. Nizam Razack received 4.43% and Ivette Palomo received 1.95%.

Because Congressional District 11 extends beyond Lake County, the Lake County totals alone do not determine the nominee.

On the Democratic side, James Pericola led the Lake County vote in Congressional District 11 with 6,403 votes, or 46.51%. Dan Williams had 3,707 votes, or 26.92%, and Royal Webster had 3,658 votes, or 26.57%.

In U.S. House District 6, Randy Fine received 51.96% of the Republican vote in the Lake County portion of the district with all 30 participating precincts reporting.

In the Republican primary for governor, Byron Donalds led Lake County with 19,381 votes, or 45.18%, followed by Jay Collins with 12,414 votes, or 28.94%.

On the Democratic side, David Jolly received 11,431 votes, or 59%.

Ashley Moody held a wide lead in the Republican U.S. Senate primary with 34,147 votes, or 81.22%.

The Democratic Senate primary remained much closer. Angie Nixon led Alex Vindman by 524 votes, 9,999 to 9,475, or 51.35% to 48.65%.

Taylor Yarkosky

In the Republican State House District 25 primary, Taylor Yarkosky led Tom Vail with 9,703 votes, or 56.25%, compared with Vail’s 7,548 votes, or 43.75%. All 40 participating precincts in the district were reporting.

Other Lake County races showed Ricky Harper leading Ron Wingerter in the Republican primary for North Lake Hospital District NW Seat 4, 69.65% to 30.35%, while Reginald A. Ward led Latoya Young in the Democratic contest for North Lake Hospital District NE Seat 2, 56.95% to 43.05%.

All results remain unofficial while election officials complete the count.
