Dr. Christina Yi
Age: 36
Family: My husband Steven, an emergency medicine physician, and I have been married for almost four years. Our 1 ½ year-old daughter is the absolute best, along with our original fur babies, Tragus and Helix, both rescue mutts.
My career: I am a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, with focus on body and breast aesthetic plastic surgery at Village Institute of Plastic Surgery.
How I got involved in this: I always knew I wanted to be a doctor. I love science and helping others, and I love working with my hands and anything creative. I suppose you could say I am the perfect blend between my mother, a physician, and my late father, an artist. Plastic surgery checked all the boxes for me.
Outside of work: I love anything art related. I especially love makeup, both aesthetic and special effects. My most favorite thing to do is spend time with my little girl and our family, soaking up every moment I can.
Greatest career accomplishment: The elusive work-life balance.
Three words to describe me: Caring, skilled, honest.
Best advice been given: Be present in every moment, as change is constant.
Advice I’d give my younger self: You’re more capable than you think. Comparison is the thief of joy. Trust the process, and growth comes from challenges.
Hidden talent: Special effects makeup; Halloween is my favorite holiday.
Guilty pleasure: Naps, shopping for makeup (I could spend hours in Sephora or Ulta) and watching SNL reruns.
What I love most about Florida: Getting to work at VIP. I’ve never been happier.
