Stepping up for a cause

The Education Foundation of Lake County’s 17th annual Stepping Out for Education, a local version of Dancing With the Stars, was held July 28-29 at Leesburg’s Venetian Center. Professional dancers paired with six local celebrities learned/performed two dance routines based on ‘A Tribute to the Golden Age of Hollywood.’ Citizens First Bank CEO Lindsey Blaise was voted top female dancer both nights and won the Mirror Ball Trophy. Eustis City Commissioner Willie Hawkins was named best male dancer Friday, while Leesburg City Manager Al Minner earned the award Saturday. A record-breaking $84,000 was raised for Lake County teachers and students.
