Construction Nears Completion for Nonprofit’s Tiny Home Development in Eustis
The vision of providing additional housing for a stable and supportive environment for at-risk youth aging out of foster care in Eustis is rapidly becoming a reality as construction on the “Cottages On Grove” nears completion. Forward Paths Foundation, in collaboration with HomeAid Orlando, has made significant progress in the development, with about 85 percent complete.
Originally breaking ground last August, the nonprofit embarked on a mission to create a nurturing space for vulnerable young adults transitioning into independent living. The “Cottages On Grove” community, situated on a two-acre site donated by the First United Methodist Church of Eustis, will provide a safe haven for up to 20 clients of Forward Paths Foundation.
“These are going to be a launching point for them to learn how to live independently,” Forward Paths President Jacob Bonynge said. “Just enough space for them to learn how to keep a home and live independently.”
Each of the 610 sq. ft. cottages, or tiny homes, will have two bedrooms and one bathroom. The “Cottages On Grove” are designed to serve as a launching pad for residents to cultivate essential life skills and embrace self-sufficiency. The project will be the first property fully owned by Forward Paths Foundation, ensuring long-term stability and support for its beneficiaries.
“We are very excited to finally see this happen,” Forward Paths Executive Director Denise Burry says. “We have our ribbon cutting date set and will be giving people tours before moving our clients in.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for May 17 at 11 a.m. The event will celebrate the dedication and hard work of all those involved in making the “Cottages On Grove” a reality.
As the final touches, including extensive landscaping and irrigation, are underway, Forward Paths Foundation has a few needs remaining like furniture and decor for the homes. For more information, visit forwardpaths.org.
