Duke Energy Foundation Awards City of Eustis $15,000 Grant
Duke Energy Foundation presents $15,000 matching grant award to Eustis City Commission. The City of Eustis was one of 15 organizations that collectively received $200,000 to support business attraction and investment around the state.
“Companies often consider establishing, expanding or relocating their operations to Florida because of the state’s economic strength,” said Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president. “It’s a privilege to support innovative strategies that will build on that success and help ensure our economy continues to grow and thrive for generations to come.”
The City of Eustis owns over 160 parcels of land, which will be used in various ways over time, including open space, business and commercial use, residential development, and municipal purposes.
To help analyze the potential business uses of some of these properties the Duke Energy Foundation has awarded the City a $15,000 grant to gather data about the key factors determining a parcel’s optimal business use. For example, what is the commercial viability of the land? Should a parcel be subdivided? Should a group of parcels be assembled into a larger one? Which parcels best match the needs of specific business types? The City of Eustis will match Duke Energy Foundation’s donation, making this a $30,000 project.
Gathering accurate data and information about those influencing factors will help both the City of Eustis, and property developers move forward with design and development options that will attract new business investment.
“When companies evaluate potential business sites in Eustis, they want the time spent gathering information to be efficient and minimal. They will appreciate the fact that the City of Eustis has accurate data available that will save them time and money. This demonstrates that Eustis understands business needs, which is our competitive advantage,” said Tom Carrino, Eustis City Manager.
“The City of Eustis is very grateful to receive this award,” said Mayor Michael Holland. “Having a partner like the Duke Energy Foundation that is committed to providing support to local communities to assist with their business investment, job creation and economic growth efforts is simply invaluable.”
