Each November, I’m reminded just how special our community truly is. This month marks 11 years since we first introduced our “Extraordinary Issue,” and it continues to be one of my favorite editions to produce. It’s a chance to shine a light on the remarkable people who make Lake and Sumter counties such a vibrant and inspiring place to live, work and play.

Over the years, we’ve met business owners who turned bold ideas into thriving ventures, educators who change lives one student at a time, first responders who serve with courage and everyday residents whose quiet acts of kindness ripple far beyond what they’ll ever know. Their stories remind us that “extraordinary” isn’t always about fame or fortune—it’s about heart, determination and making a difference right where you are.
