The Tavares High School cheerleading team, led by head coach Shannon Crews, showcased some amazing routines during a four-day Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) camp held at the Radisson Resort at the Port.

The camp kicked off with the team dressed in pink on Day 1, as they began learning new material, including chants, cheers, and basic stunting techniques.

(Much was learned at the four day camp. Tavares High comes into a promising 2025 cheer season.)

On Day 2, the team expanded their skillset with dances and more complex stunts. Their hard work paid off during the first evaluation, where they earned a blue superior ribbon.

Day 3 brought a focus on advanced stunt techniques, including pyramid building. The varsity team had six athletes try out for the prestigious All-American title, with four successfully earning the honor. The day’s efforts culminated in another superior blue ribbon during the second evaluation.

(The Varsity Tavares Cheer team would take home a first place gold ribbon for excellence.)

The final day was marked by the team donning their full uniforms for a family and friends showcase.

  • In the Spirit Routine category, Junior Varsity placed second, and Varsity took third.

  • In the Camp Routine, which featured pyramid stunts, JV placed fourth, while Varsity claimed first place and was awarded a gold ribbon for excellence.

(Tavares High is ready to showcase the hard-work put in this summer and the team is very excited to get the school year started.)

“These girls came together as a team, worked hard, and respected each other,” says Coach Crews. “Their open communication allowed them to stay focused on improving and learning new skills. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of the cheerleaders and am excited to see where this season takes us.”
