Tavares High Senior Lena Bracciale Leads With Faith, Spirit

Activities: Tavares High Student Government Association (SGA) president, choir student conductor, varsity cheer captain, tennis, FCA and Mount Dora Youth Student Leadership.
Favorite school subject: Math because I have always been good with numbers and solving problems.
Why student government? I wanted to make changes in my school for the better and foster a familial student community. Whether it’s planning a pep rally or helping make every homecoming better than the last, I wanted to give my friends and fellow bulldogs the best high school years they could ever have.
As SGA president: I am constantly working hard to make sure the Class of 2027 has the best senior year ever, makes tons of fun memories to carry with them as we move on from high school and graduate with a bang.
Greatest achievement: Finding my identity in Christ and letting that turn me into the person I am today. Without God, I would not have the firm foundation I have.
Biggest role models: My parents, because they have shown me what it is like to work hard for what I want in life, be the best version of myself, and learn how to balance everything going on in my life and still make time to care for others.
Three words that describe me: God-fearing. Hard-working. Grateful.
Something surprising: My life is not perfect. I may not look like it, but I struggle with my self-image and how I feel others view me and I don’t always feel 100%. Even when someone looks like their life is all sunshine and rainbows, you never know what’s going on behind the curtain.
Favorite free afternoon: Going to Disney with my friends and eating snacks while getting to ride fun rides.
Topping my playlist: Definitely any songs by Malcolm Todd or Steve Lacy and the whole setlist of all the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
Future plans include: Graduating from college with my business and marketing degrees and hopefully landing a job working for Disney or Universal as a marketing team member or manager.

Originally from Nogales, Arizona, Roxanne worked in the customer service industry while practicing freelance writing for years. She came on board with Akers Media in July 2020 as a full-time staff writer for Lake & Sumter Style Magazine and was promoted to Managing Editor in October 2023—her dream job come true. Prior to that and after just having moved to Florida in 1999, Roxanne had re-directed her prior career path to focus more on journalism and went on to become a reporter for The Daily Commercial/South Lake Press newspapers for 16 years. Additionally, Roxanne—now an award-winning journalist recognized by the Florida Press Club and the Florida chapter of The Society of Professional Journalism—continues working toward her secondary goal of becoming a published author of children’s books.
