Today is Primary Election Day in Lake County: Last Chance to Cast Your Vote!

1.1 min read| Published On: August 20th, 2024|

Today, August 20th, is Election Day in Lake County, and voters are encouraged to take part in this essential democratic process. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and your vote can help shape the future of our community.

If you’ve requested a mail-in ballot but haven’t sent it yet, don’t worry—there’s still time to make your voice heard. Instead of mailing your Vote-by-Mail (VBM) ballot, which will miss today’s deadline, you can drop it off directly at the Supervisor of Elections Office, located at 1898 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares. This is the only drop-off location for mail-in ballots on Election Day, and they must be received by 7:00 p.m. to be counted.

Early Voting Turnout

Lake County has already seen significant voter participation leading up to Election Day. As of today, 16,867 Republican residents and 9,706 registered Democrats have cast their votes early. Additionally, 267 voters with Independent or other party affiliations, and 3,126 voters with no party affiliation, have shown up at early voting locations across the county.

In total, 18,127 mail-in ballots have been received, bringing the early voting turnout to approximately 30,031 voters—about 12.4% of Lake County’s 243,267 eligible voters. This early turnout is slightly below the 2022 primary election, which saw around 32,845 votes cast before Election Day.

Election Day Guidance

If you haven’t voted yet, today is your last chance to participate in the 2024 Primary Election. Make sure to bring a valid form of identification with both a photo and signature to your designated polling location, which can be found on your Voter Information Card or through the Lake County Supervisor of Elections website at Find My Precinct.
