Langdon Dinsdale, 39

Occupation: Holistic Physiotherapist/Pain and Rehabilitation Specialist, Owner of Soma Health & Performance, Clermont

What I do: I help people overcome chronic pain, injury and health issues such as autoimmune disorders.

How I got started: I began in 2008 after graduating from the University of Ottawa Human Kinetics Program. I was eager to help people heal and overcome pain.

I’m passionate about holistic pain rehabilitation because: I absolutely love helping people. Getting to help clients overcome years of chronic pain or helping people to heal from serious disorders is what gets me out of bed and excited in the morning.

My biggest professional accomplishment: Working with Olympic athletes Kenny Bednarek and Aaron Brown to overcome injuries and then become Olympic medalists in sprinting events. I have also helped people overcome injuries who have then gone on to become world champions in various sports.

When I’m not rehabilitating patients: I train for Ninja Warrior and compete and I even made it to the world championships. I also competed on the last two seasons of the TV show American Ninja Warrior.

My first job: Selling athletic footwear at a store called Sport Check in Canada.

My local mentor: Kay Simpson, who is always helping the community in her spare time and working with cancer patients.

The best advice I’ve received: “If you can’t explain something to a 12-year-old, you don’t know what you are talking about.”

Fun fact: I live my life barefoot, and I haven’t worn shoes in nine years. I travel barefoot, work barefoot, run and do triathlons barefoot, go to stores barefoot and I competed on American Ninja Warrior as the “Barefoot Ninja.”

If I had a million dollars to give away: As there are no Ninja Gyms in the Clermont area currently, I would open a Ninja Gym in the area so that more kids had access to the amazing sport.

Life after 40: I hope to continue competing on the TV show and maybe open up a Ninja Gym someday. I also plan to continue working with Olympic and World Champion level athletes, as well as helping people to get out of pain and overcome health issues. I also have a wife and three kids that are my whole world. Watching them grow up is amazing.
