Flyin’ in Fruitland Park

A few amateur racing enthusiasts gathered up their old car parts and scrap lumber to cobble together slick, fast and painted derby “karts” for the City of Fruitland Park’s Derby Race held on June 15. Drivers ages 5 and up paid just $25 to enter their karts, with the “Little Rascals” themed division being the favorite. There were multiple winners and places in different categories. Korra Ourada won $200 for finishing first. Chameller and Jaylin Johnson took 2nd place and won $175. Tyler Watts won $125 for coming in third. Weston Johnson won the “Best in Show” trophy. Clayton and Tyler Watts won the trophy for “Most Creative.”
